Kios

Cajal Bodies built Kios, the operations console behind its merchandise department, and KIOS, the made-to-order label that runs on it, with seven chapters in its lookbook and its first drop opening on 1 November 2026.

The KIOS lookbook, opening on two renders of pieces worn in Tanjung Bira
  • Renders of Kebun Karang in colour: the dive hair hood with the rashguard, the stone cap with an outline coral, and the indigo plate tee reading GaiaOne, Coral Restoration
  • Chapter one of the KIOS lookbook, Kebun Karang
    Lookbook chapter 01: Kebun Karang
  • Chapter two of the KIOS lookbook, Tubir 17
    Lookbook chapter 02: Tubir 17

Operator merchandise usually fails the same way. Sixty shirts arrive, forty are the wrong size, and they sit in a store room for three years. Kios is built so that a print run is triggered by an order rather than by a forecast.

Production is planned as dual-sourced: one maker in Bali and one in Kuala Lumpur, so that wherever a piece can be made in both, finished goods never cross a border. Neither is contracted yet, and the makers are being chosen now. The only stock held will be a small capped buffer of proven sellers at the counter in Bira, for the guest who flies home in three days and will not wait for a print run.

The console holds the catalogue, the orders from every channel, the production jobs, the stock movements and the per-brand figures, and works on a phone where the signal does not. The console and the counter till are deployed and running behind a login. The link above opens the public side: the KIOS lookbook, seven chapters photographed as renders of made-to-order pieces, with a list to join for early access, and that list is taking sign-ups. Nothing in it can be bought yet: payments are not switched on. The first chapter, Kebun Karang, opens for pre-order on 1 November 2026.

Kebun Karang was redrawn in colour in September 2026: a plate tee reading GaiaOne, Coral Restoration, Bira, Sulawesi over five of Haeckel's corals on indigo, a blue-black rashguard with rows of living coral down the sleeves, a dive hair hood cut from the same printed fabric, and a stone cap with an outline coral embroidered in mengkudu red and sepia. Its pictures are renders, not photographs of samples: the real print and embroidery files laid onto generated pictures of plain garments.

GaiaOne is the first brand, with its licence agreed in shape and not yet signed. Tevana House Reef, Seascapes Bira and Mythical Beings each have a chapter drawn in the lookbook, and none of those has a date. Freedive Sulawesi is planned and has not started.

Questions people ask

Can I buy GaiaOne merchandise?

Not yet. The KIOS lookbook is public, but nothing in it can be bought until a chapter opens for pre-order. Kebun Karang, the GaiaOne chapter, is the first, on 1 November 2026, and the licence is not yet signed.

What is Kios?

The operations console for a merchandise department: catalogue, orders, production jobs, printer routing, stock and per-brand figures, built by Cajal Bodies for the line it is setting up with GaiaOne.

Build it, then run it

Cajal Bodies works four ways: run it, build it, draw it or make it, and most published work started with something built. If nothing is running yet, that starts with Build it; once it is, the monthly work keeps it watched.
